Campaign Specialist (SEM)


Your Role

district m is looking for a Search Engine Marketing Specialist to join its team. Your role in SEM Specialist for this dynamic start-up will lead you to be in a direct contact with SMB advertisers and to develop and manage innovative advertising solutions adapted to their needs. You will be working from district m's 12,000 sqft facility in Montreal's Mile End district.

Your mission

  • Strategically build, manage, and optimize search engine marketing (SEM) campaigns, primarily on Google AdWords: Budget forecasting, Keyword research, Campaign set-up (Build tightly-themed ad groups by keyword relevancy, configure campaign settings, add negative keywords, etc.)
  • Optimize KPI's to maximize ROI of each marketing dollar spent within monthly budget restraints
  • Understands and is intimately aware of competitive activity in paid search, ensures that SEM campaigns are set-up to deliver competitive advantage
  • Optimize the end-to-end campaign (including targeting segments, creative, remarketing tactics, etc) on an ongoing basis in real-time with focus on personalization
  • Deliver detailed and actionable insights and strategic recommendations, provide interpretation, guidance and recommendations to drive business performance
  • Produce & manage keyword research, technical, content and SEM audits - analysis and optimization recommendations
  • Develop and test new campaigns to better target users and improve overall marketing efficiencies


  • One to two years of relevant experience
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)
  • Highly proficient in Excel and Outlook
  • Well versed in the use of the Internet
  • Google AdWords certified, an asset
  • Organized and skilled at prioritizing
  • Able to work independently
  • Willing to help others
  • Takes initiative
  • Detail-oriented and versatile
  • Works well with others
  • Adaptable and eager to take on a challenge (the position will change over time and may call for greater involvement in campaigns in a few months)
