Today district m turns six and for us, it signifies the end of another monumental year for the business, our clients and our employees. For me, this year can be summarized in two words: growth and transformation.
In an industry that is constantly changing and transforming itself, it is only natural that we as innovators within this industry evolve with the ebb and flow of our clients and their needs. This year, I can say without doubt that part of our success could be attributed to keeping our ear close to the needs of our clients and translating those needs into new products, but also upgrading popular existing products such as Camp and Boost, so they can continue to effectively support our clients as their businesses grow.
Sometimes growth also means taking something that was working, such as our initial retargeting platform Mypixel, and transforming it to what is now known today as go, our self-serve advertising platform. By taking this step, district m is now better positioned to help advertisers, regardless of their size and expertise, grow their business and attract new customers.
When I speak of growth and transformation, I think it’s necessary to highlight our company’s desire to grow through our people. This year, district m added several new hires to our executive team: Natacha Brind’Amour, Director of People; Remi Fournier, Chief Revenue Officer; Valerie Brasseur, VP of Sales; Francois Magnan VP Engineering, and Mathieu Hetu, VP of Software Development, who were bought on specifically to champion new initiatives that would transform the way our current and potential clients, as well as our employees, view district m and its offerings.
Through them, and too many other invaluable districters for me to name, we’ve been fortunate enough to bring home some great awards such as Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50, Fast 500 North America, Canada’s Top Small and Medium Employers and one of Canada’s Best Managed companies. This year, we also hit our milestone of 100 employees! Now more than ever, we have the right people in place to position district m as leaders in the global ad tech market!
This year, we’ve also invested in our growth through personal learning, sending many of our employees to various conferences, trade shows, and summits from all over the world. By investing in our employees, we’ve been able to stay ahead of industry trends and challenges. By attending these special conferences, we’ve been able to bring our learnings back to our home base, where they’re shared with other districters.
Finally, in wrapping up a year built on growth and transformation, I definitely need to say how proud I am of our districters and their commitment to giving back to our tech community. This year, we’ve been honoured to participate and host many great Montreal initiatives such as Montreal Start-Up Weekend, Technovation, Ladies Learning Code, Canada Learning Code, and Hackernest. Through these programs, we were able to play a small role in grooming our next generation of technology innovators—who one day will hopefully choose district m to be their employer!
In closing, I would like to wish district m a very happy 6th birthday. It’s been a tremendous year for us, and one that would not have been possible without the hard work and perseverance of all the districters who helped build this company. With them at the helm of this company, I know that our future is bright and steered in the right direction. I look forward to sharing more exciting news in the year to come.
